It can be mind numbing to think that one day you may switch from the calm of an afternoon sail to the rumble of a pair of diesel engines underfoot. It's a common occurrence, one both dreaded, and exciting to be taking on a new theme. Lifelong sailors Rob and Laura Floyd grew their boys on a Tartan 40. Now thinking towards the future, they decided to try power. Pictured : Rob Floyd and his "delivery crew" (with me at the helm!) sightseeing through Hell Gate in NYC on his new 2005 Mainship 400. One of my first listings was a 1983 Dickerson 37. Locally built on the Chesapeake, stout vessels with nice lines. I sold her in the spring of 2015. Her former owner, Mark Robinson, was looking to upgrade. I worked with him for a year and a half, and showed him dozens of boats. We made offers and went to survey on a couple but they just weren't perfect. Then, in the fall of 2016 we found that perfect boat. A very well kept 1999 Catalina 42 MkII. Now residing in Galesville, MD.
No matter how long it took, I told him we would find the right one. Pictured : Mark's new Catalina being delivered from Herrington Harbor to Pirates Cove Fall 2016
No matter how long it takes, or where we go, the perfect boat for you is out there. One of the first things I tell a perspective buyer is that we may start local, and end up buying a boat in New England or Florida. Don't fret about that. There are good boats everywhere, and I have the resources to make sure we get the right inspection and all the way through to shipment home.
